Concord Screen CAR - Rotate Gravity Screen

Description

Concord Model Rotate strainers are offered in capacities to 12,000 gallons per minute. The strainers are offered for Horizontal installation and are available to 0.001" degree of cleaning using Concord's own "POSI-CLEAN" elements.

The Concord Screen Inc. Model Rotate strainer is a fabricated, fully automatic self-cleaning gravity strainer with a single reverse formed wedgewire filtering element. Flow during straining is from inside to the outside.

The "POSI-CLEAN" element discourages wedging of particles by helical wrapping of verticle rods with a "V" shaped profile wire. All internal vertical rods are welded to the surface wire at every intersection. The vertical rods being rigidly welded give a smooth unobstructed surface and do not impede the free flow of materials across the "POSI-CLEAN" element. This forms a continuous slot which limits the contact of particles to two points in the screen slot and prevents plugging. In this way, the optimum effriciency is assured by maintaining the maximum effective flow area. When it becomes necessary to clean the surface of the screen, cleaning is made more effective due to the abundant open area of the "POSI-CLEAN" design.

Liquid flows into the strainer through the inlet where it is directed into a headbox, flowing over the weirs of the headbox onto the inside of the wedgewire screen element. Clean liquid flows through the wedgewire element retaining the solids inside the screen; the screen is driven by a belt drive powered by a heavy duty electric motor and gear box. Internal and external water or steam spray system plus gravity keeps the screen free of solids; the spray system can be continuous or intermittent. Solids are rotated and diverted by diverters arranged in a helical pattern throughout the screens length, as the screen rotates, these solids continuously move towards the screens discharge end for removal.

Standard Features

HEADBOX - With adjustable feet to insure uniform flow over both sides of the headbox and with adjustable weirs to insure smooth liquid flow onto the wedgewire elements surface. Angled base allows for heavy solids to be easily removed.
DRIVE - Belt drive with heavy duty drive motor and gear reducer located in the screens centre to maintain screen contact on all 4 heavy duty wheels.
SPRAY SYSTEM - Internal and external spray system with high impact spray nozzles precisely mounted provides full screen cleaning inside and outside.
SCREEN ELEMENT - Reverse formed wedgewire screen element provides optimum open area and top performance; screens as fine as 0.001" (25 micron) are manufactured in-house, eliminating product quality control problems.
COVERS - Designed so as to provide maximum protection against liquid spray and also to allow the operator full view and easy access to all of the Rotates components.
Low backwashing flow requirements.

Application and Industrial Uses

Rotate Strainers are designed for removal of particulate from all types of liquids, used in practically all industries for thickening, fibre removal, sludge screening and filtration of any plant effluents. Liquids filtered include well take, river, cooling tower or sea (salt water) to white water, black liquor (pulp and paper mills), chemicals, acids, sewage and lubricating oils. Removal of all types of solids can be achieved, such as fats, oils, fibre, grease, foods (vegetables and mineral).
